Canadian Plains
(Thamnophis Radix Radix)
The Canadian Plains carries a orange and yellow stripe down its back, with grey and yellow stripes on each
side, along with two rows of black spots. The belly is grey and green with dark spots. They mate during
April and May and give birth to live young in the August September and October months. They can give birth
to between 10 and 50 young.
The adults measure approximately 39" and the young measure approximately 6",
Their diet consists of slugs, earth worms, frogs, and other small amphibians.
This snake is found in most American States but apparently they are endangered
in the state of Ohio.
