Eastern Blacknecked
(Thamnophis cyrtopsis ocellatus)
The Eastern Blacknecked has a black head and neck, the body has a light stripe going down the upper part
with black stripes running along the side, the under belly is light colored with virtical black stripes.
This snake lives in one of the driest parts of Texas so you can expect to find him close to water, the diet being
of fish, and small amphibians.
The female like most garters can store sperm throughout winter, they give birth to between 5 and 50 live young.
